چکیده

The Children’s Perception of Interparental Conflict Scale (CPIC) is based on the cognitive-contextual framework for understanding interparental conflict. This study investigates the factor validity and the invariance of two factor models of CPIC within a sample of Portuguese adolescents and emerging adults (14 to 25 years old; N = 677). At the subscale level, invariance analyses (configural and metric) showed that the three-factor model with seven subscales operated equivalently across adolescents and emerging adults, although noninvariant intercepts emerged when testing scalar invariance. Confirmatory factor analyses (at the item and subscale level) and followup model fit indices supported the theory-based factor structure of the CPIC’s original model.

AbstractObjectives: The present study represents an attempt to explain the mechanisms by which, parental conflict, a stressful life event in children's lives, may have an impact on children's psychological health. For this purpose, besides examining predictive relationships between in-dependent and criterion variables, we also evaluated the mediating and moderating interactions of three importa...

Adolescent and Parental Perceptions of Interparental Conflict and their Relationship to Adolescent Adjustment

Research indicates adolescent adjustment problems are associated with high levels of interparental conflict. This study examined parents’ and adolescents’ perceptions of interparental conflict and the relationship of these perceptions to adolescent adjustment through a survey of adolescent secondary students and their parents. Sixtytwo adolescents and 62 parents participated in the study. Adole...

Children’s Depression Inventory: Testing Measurement Invariance for the Hierarchical Factor Model Across Children and Adolescents in a Clinic-Referred Sample

The Children’s Depression Inventory is a self-report scale for screening depressive disorders in children and adolescents. The original model proposed by Kovacs has a hierarchical factor structure: Five first-order and a single second-order factors. This study used confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) to examine support for this model. It also examined measurement invariance of this model across ...

Running Head: SEQUELAE OF DESTRUCTIVE AND CONSTRUCTIVE CONFLICT 1 Delineating the Sequelae of Destructive and Constructive Interparental Conflict for Children Within an Evolutionary Framework Date Submitted: September 13, 2011

We examined the joint role of constructive and destructive interparental conflict in predicting children’s emotional insecurity and psychological problems. In Study 1, 250 early adolescents (M = 12.6 years) and their primary caregivers completed assessments of family and child functioning. In Study 2, 201 mothers and their two-year old children participated in a multi-method, longitudinal desig...

Etiological contributions to the covariation between children's perceptions of inter-parental conflict and child behavioral problems.

Prior work has suggested that inter-parental conflict likely plays an etiological role in child behavior problems. However, family-level measurement of inter-parental conflict in most traditional child twin studies has made it difficult to tease apart the specific causal mechanisms underlying this association. The Children's Perception of Inter-parental Conflict scale (CPIC) provides a child-sp...
